Steve Spencer – Managing Director

Steve has over 35 years experience in the solvents, chemicals and oils markets with roles in operations, finance, sales & marketing and general management, with more than 25 years in senior management, including 12 years at board level.

Companies include a major UK solvent & chemical distributor, the UK’s largest independent speciality solvents and oils producer with global sales (latterly part of the multinational group Repsol) and SIP.

Roles held have been Area Sales Manager, Product Group Manager, Regional Commercial Manager, Marketing Manager, Divisional General Manager, Director of Marketing and current position.

Major successes have included identifying growth and increasing sales within all companies, leading major development projects, integration of a division into the main organisation following an acquisition, reorganisation of a European subsidiary of a multinational, restructuring of organisation.

Steve has served on a committee of a sector group in the European Council of Chemical Manufacturers’ Federations (CEFIC) and was a member of the Executive Committee of the UK Solvents Industry Association (SIA). He is also a Fellow of The Chartered Management Institute, Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing and Member of The Institute of Directors.

Kerry LarkinCommercial Director

Kerry graduated from Nottingham University with an honours degree in Chemistry and started work as a graduate trainee for a small chemical trading company in 1994. She transitioned across to the oil industry in 1997 when she joined Fuchs Lubricants as their UK Sales Manager for Petroleum Jelly and White Oils. Kerry joined SIP in 2001 as Product Manager for White Oils and in 2005 became Marketing Manager for the Automotive, Industrial and White oil business sectors. In 2009 Kerry was promoted to Director of Marketing and Development, with overall responsibility for the Marketing and Technical department, including Purchasing, Sales and development of all products outside of Drilling.

Kerry completed her MBA at Henley Business School in 2013, where the subject of her dissertation was corporate reputation in small medium enterprises (SME’s).

In January 2016, Kerry was promoted onto the SIP board as Commercial Director.

Glen Cockroft – Director of Drilling

Glen graduated with a honours degree in Earth Sciences from Leicester University followed by post graduate studies at Keele University. He started work in the offshore industry in 1981 in various drilling fluid and geological engineering roles, and worked in several International locations, including all the European offshore sectors of the North Sea, Angola, Nigeria, Gabon, Egypt, Somalia, UAE, Bahrain and Qatar.

He moved into a technical/commercial role in the oil services division of Allied Colloids, working specifically on water based polymers for use in the offshore drilling, production and enhanced oil recovery sectors. This was followed by running the drilling fluid base oil business for Carless Refining and Marketing Ltd, from 1989 to 1997.

In 1997 Glen joined SIP as Drilling Base Fluids Manager and was promoted to Director of Drilling in 2005. Since that date, SIP`s drilling business has grown significantly and is now a major part of SIP`s overall business. The company has developed a range of drilling base fluids and has products to meet most technical or legislative requirements worldwide.

Simon Lawford – Marketing and Development Manager

Simon was an R & D chemist, developing PAG and ester based fluids for ten years before moving into a technical service role. He has been responsible for the formulation, introduction and technical support / sales of PAG base fluids and compounded PAG and Ester industrial lubricants on behalf of Inspec, Laporte and then, from 2000 to 2004, for Cognis globally. Simon then spent three years as a European Marketing Manager for Cognis Synlubes before joining SIP in 2007 as European Sales Manager with product responsibility for White Oils and Industrial Oils.

Simon has recently been promoted to Marketing and Development Manager, running SIP's Development projects, which includes responsibility for the Technical Department. Simon also manages SIP's Middle East and Africa business and is the Product Manager for Speciality Fluids.

Rory Haigh – European Sales Manager

Rory joined SIP in August 2015 from M&I Materials Limited, where he was working as International Business Development Manager, with responsibility for driving global sales of the Apiezon specialist lubricant portfolio. A qualified Mechanical Engineer, Rory started his career in the Oil Industry with Total as a Lubricants advisor, followed by six years with Klüber Lubrication, where as Technical Sales Consultant he was the UK delegate for the Nestle global account and became the UK Value Selling Ambassador following his success with this business approach.

Robert Haw – European Sales Manager

Rob joined SIP in November 2016 as European Sales Manager. Rob has 10 years experience in the lubricants industry having previously worked as Northern Area Sales Manager and then Sales Manager for The Ironsides Lubricants Ltd in The UK. Export sales were also part of the role for many years. Product experience includes, lubricating greases, food grade oils, speciality oils. Rob is an apprentice trained Engineer with 20 years practical experience working across a huge range of industrial sectors including petro-chemicals.

Will AspinallEuropean Sales Manager

Will has over 15 years’ commercial experience in the oil industry, having previously worked for a major independent speciality oil & solvent refiner in the UK. Will has held positions in export sales, refinery supply chain and 8 years in a commercial role, managing the middle distillates product group. Will’s product experience includes speciality base oils & fluids, process oils, drilling fluids and printing ink distillates.

Will joined SIP at the start of 2011 with the responsibility for growing the Speciality Oils & Fluids business area, and is now providing sales and marketing support across all of the business sectors.

Bead OliverMarketing Coordinator

Bead Oliver re-joined SIP in February 2016, having originally worked in the Operations department between 1994 and 1999. Bead has previously worked for McDermott International Trading, Petrex (London) Ltd and more recently ran her own company selling British artisan food gifts and hampers. Bead has returned to SIP as Marketing Coordinator, working closely with the SIP Marketing and Technical team, providing in-house support. 

Mike Peters – Technical Support and Development Manager

Mike has over 45 years experience in the oil and petroleum additives industries. He has had technical, marketing and sales management roles and has been with SIP for the last fifteen years. During his career, Mike has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and has had dealings with a wide range of organisations, including most of the global lubricant producers, as well as national oil companies. This has given him an exceptional understanding of the needs of all types of businesses, especially those relating to approval processes, performance requirements, registrations and certifications & OEM approvals.

Mike’s experience also includes OEM contact, coordinating lubricant field trials, running extensive test programmes, presenting conferences and running training programmes for customers.

Herpal Kang - Quality Manager

Herpal joined SIP from Ciaté London in January 2014, where she held the position of Regulatory and Technical Manager. Following her Masters at the University of Hull in Biomedical Science, Herpal started her career as a research technician for Reckitt Benckiser in 2006, before moving into a Regulatory Affair role in 2008 and has since gained Regulatory experience within the FMCG, Healthcare/OTC and Chemical sectors. This involved to work with various product regulations such as cosmetic regulations, pharmaceuticals/herbal, medical devices and food. Herpal is responsible for all of SIP's Regulatory Affairs requirements (REACH, CLP), ISO 9001 and specifications and Safety Data Sheets.

Peter Hollister – Operations Manager

Peter has spent nearly 20 years working in the Oil Industry. He has worked for BP, Elf, Total and Harvest Energy. Most recently at Harvest he managed the retendering of their 3rd Party Haulage contract and carried out an overhaul of all their internal logistics and customer service functions. He managed Total’s LPG JV with Flogas and the Excellium brand whilst working in the Retail Division. Lastly, he managed Operations for the Supply and Refining Division encompassing all rail, sea and pipeline movements from Lindsey Oil Refinery to Total’s inland terminals, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, 3rd party facilities and Heathrow.  Peter joined SIP in March 2015. He has an experienced team who are responsible for all aspects of the supply chain, from refinery to customer.

Paul Main Financial Controller

Paul graduated in 1988 from Robert Gordons’ Institute of Technology with a Bachelors Degree in Business Studies in Aberdeen. Moving South he trained in the home counties with a top 10 accountancy firm before moving into industry in the manufacturing sector. From there he moved into the non-profit making sector before a switch to London and publishing. From there he moved into the wine sector before joining SIP 12 years ago. In charge of the finance function, he has streamlined many of the functions and broadened reporting and oversaw the recent implementation of the procurement system.
