Organisational Changes as SIP Strengthens Board

In line with our growth strategy, we have taken the decision to strengthen the board and are pleased to announce the appointment of Kerry Larkin as Commercial Director and Martin Ibbotson as Finance Director. As part of this re-structure, Simon Lawford has been appointed as Marketing and Development Manager.

“The global base oil markets have changed significantly and will continue to do so in order to adapt to constantly evolving scenarios, whether that be for economic, political or technological reasons and likewise, we have to be able to address those same challenges for our own business and at the same time, look to exploit the opportunities also.  With that in mind, we have agreed that we need to strengthen the board in order to have a wider and more diversified input to the future direction of SIP” said Steve Spencer, Managing Director.

Alfie Blackburn, Company Secretary, will be retiring at the end of March 2016 after twenty three years with SIP and Steve paid tribute to Alfie for his loyal service, “On behalf of everybody at SIP, I would like to thank Alfie for the significant contribution he has made to the development and success of the business.  The professionalism, dedication and loyalty given to the company during such a long time has been greatly appreciated and he will be sorely missed.  We wish him a long and happy retirement”.

Kerry, who has a BSc Hons in Chemistry and an MBA from Henley Business School, has been in the oils and lubricants industry 20 years having previously worked for White Sea & Baltic followed by Fuchs Lubricants, joining SIP in 2001.  She has held a number of roles within the company and was Director of Marketing and Development responsible for all non-drilling product groups prior to her appointment.

Martin, a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) joined SIP on 1st February, bringing 20 years of financial management experience from a wealth of industry sectors and sizes. His most recent role was as Group Finance Director for Melrob, a UK based global chemical distributor and manufacturer.

Simon, a qualified R&D chemist, has also been in the oils and lubricants industry 20 years, working with synthetic base stocks prior to joining SIP in 2007. He has had commercial responsibility for all non-drilling product groups and most recently was Market Development Manager EAME, responsible for managing SIP’s development programme.

“Whilst challenges for the company and indeed, the industry in general, certainly exist, there are some great opportunities to be worked on also and the board is absolutely committed to growing SIP through continued business development programmes.  We believe these new roles will not only achieve the balance and strengthening we are seeking on the board, but will be an important step in allowing time for proper reflection of where the business is today and directionally, where we want it to be and what we need to do to achieve our goals” said Steve.
